Two judges of the High Court Musalu Musene of Soroti, Moses Mukiibi(retired) and lawyers have been sanctioned by the United States. the group is alleged to have caused a number of children to be adopted in the a corrupt United States scheme.

Families of the children were lied to with a promise of specialised education programs and study in US but instead would be given to US families for adoption, said the Deputy Secretary of treasury Justin G Muzinich. He further said that poor illiterate families in rural areas were targeted and has resulted into great suffering of the children.

Whereas lawyer Dorah Mirembe and husband Patrick Ecobu ‘ law firm were used in the falsification of documents by the adoption agency as well as hire intermedies to seek out vulnerable families, the now Soroti judge received bribes to expedite the process later on the retired one after transfer of the former.

The sanctions are on finances as well as visa for the said act. This implies that all property and interests owned directly or indirectly in the US must be blocked and reported to the Office of Foreign Assets Control(OFAC)
