During third COVID-19 National Prayer day at state house this Saturday afternoon, the president revealed there are ongoing discussions to foresee the re-opening of churches, schools and bars. These were closed in March this year to deny concentration of people due to the COVID -19 pandemic which hit the world.
Before inviting the president to speak, health minister Dr. Jane Ruth Achieng highlighted the COVID -19 situation so far in Uganda. She revealed a reported death today of a 45 year woman in Kampala. This brings the total number of deaths to 29 with 20 in Kampala. The total number of infections stands at 2,847 with 91 cases confirmed by tests done on Friday.
The president blamed increase of cases in Kampala on listening to divergent ideas. He cited indiscipline among the public giving an example of recently conducted elections rather than numbers as the cause of the increase.
He warned there would be need to organise burial teams if the guidelines are not followed.
