All portent is that there will not be a dead year for students, schools will soon reopen, and UNEB is waiting for an official communication from the ministry of Education so that they lay their plan, said Dan Odongo the UNEB executive secretary.
The hub will be on candidate classes to recommence, for a second term on September 20 this year. This was according to a letter lately written by the Minister of Education Janet Museveni to the Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija delving for the release of capitation grants to schools.
The ministry of Education had also put in place standard operating procedures(SOPs)which include; two meter distance between learners, reducing the number of learners in classrooms to at least 15 at all levels, availability of WASH facilities, regular disinfection and scattered breaks. Several other SOPs will also be communicated after the awaited pronouncement.
Closure of schools has had a lot of negative effects on the well being of children, while some parents effortlessly have their children get some education within the lock down.
