Following his return from Monaco where he won gold in a 5000m race at Monaco Diamond League, Joshua Cheptegei is quoted by Daily Monitor’s Joseph Omollo that he would abide by the COVID 19 standard operating orders .
These rules set by the COVID national task force require a fortnight isolation of all returnees to the country. The gold winner is reported to voluntarily self quarantine at his training camp before reuniting with his family in Kapchorwa.
Only 3 other Africans participated due to the COVID world travel restrictions that limited the number of participants all over the world. Despite no crowds involved, Cheptegei will still be in the camp doing his trainings in the morning hours alone.
